The West Indies cricket team will play with pride when they take on Sri Lanka in the Super Sixes of the World Cup qualifiers today. The match is to be played between Sri Lanka and West Indies at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe. Earlier, Sri Lanka became the first team to qualify for the main stage of the World Cup. In their last match, Sri Lanka registered an emphatic nine-wicket win against hosts Zimbabwe. On the other hand, West Indies’ World Cup qualifying campaign has been disappointing.
West Indies will miss this year’s ODI World Cup for the first time after being ousted from the qualifiers. The two-time World Cup winners crashed out of the World Cup qualifiers after losing to Scotland. West Indies bounced back in their next game against Oman with a seven-wicket win. Opener Brandon King scored a brilliant century in that match to guide the West Indies to victory against Oman.
Apart from Sri Lanka, Netherlands became the second team to reach the main round of the World Cup to be played in India later this year. The Dutch cricket team beat Scotland by four wickets to seal their place in the World Cup.
