Sydney: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the strongest and biggest foundation of India-Australia relations is mutual trust and mutual respect and the real reason behind this is the Indian diaspora. Modi made the remarks while addressing a community event at Sydney’s Kudos Bank Arena, which was attended by over 21,000 people from across Australia. The event was also attended by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Prime Minister Modi said that there was a time when 3Cs defined the relationship between India and Australia. These three were – Commonwealth, Cricket and Curry. “After that, it was 3D. Democracy, diaspora and friendship! Then it became 3E, it was all about energy, economy and education. But the truth is that the real depth of the relationship between India and Australia lies in these C’s, D’s. Is beyond. , e…” Modi said.
“The strongest and biggest foundation of this relationship is actually mutual trust and mutual respect and the real reason behind this is the diaspora,” he said amid thunderous applause and slogans of Modi-Modi. Modi said that there are geographical distances between India and Australia, but the Indian Ocean connects us. “No matter how different the lifestyles of the two countries are, Yoga connects us! Cricket is something that has connected us for ages…and now tennis and films are other connecting bridges,” he added.
“As interesting as the competition on the cricket field, our friendship runs deeper off the field,” he said amid thunderous applause. Modi said millions of Indians are saddened by the demise of Australian spin bowler Shane Warne. Noting that the IMF considers India a bright spot in the global economy, Modi said that according to the World Bank, if there is any country which is facing global headwinds, it is India.

Modi thanked his Australian counterpart for supporting him in unveiling the foundation stone of ‘Little India’, a suburb of Sydney. The declaration of Harris Park as ‘Little India’ was announced by Australian Prime Minister Albanese as he welcomed Modi at a community event. Harris Park is a center in western Sydney where the Indian community celebrates festivals and events such as Diwali and Australia Day.
“Thank you my friend Anthony,” Modi said during the community event. “I thank the Premier of New South Wales, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and Councilors of the City of Parramatta for this special honour,” he said. Earlier, Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese were greeted with Vedic chants and traditional Australian Aboriginal ceremonies on their arrival at the venue.
