Pangea Data has been selected by the Mental Health Research for Innovation Center (M-RIC) for a strategic partnership to use its AI-powered product to identify mental health patients and generate clinically actionable new intelligence. Will do to search.
M-RIC was recently set up by the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Liverpool as part of the UK Government’s National Mental Health Mission. It is funded by the Office for Life Sciences and the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
It aims to build the infrastructure needed for research and innovation, focusing on under-researched and under-funded areas such as psychosis, mood disorders and early intervention in children and young people.
The newly formed M-RIC will apply an AI product from Pangea data to help find more undiagnosed, misdiagnosed and miscoded patients.
The AI tool characterizes patients by automatically discovering clinical signatures for 4,000 hard-to-diagnose conditions in a privacy-preserving and scalable manner.
Professor Nusrat Hussain, director of research and innovation and global research center on mental health inequalities at Mercy Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Early detection and intervention are important elements of our clinical practice at both the individual and population level, providing an important mechanism for improving access to mental health services, particularly within underserved populations.
“Through partnerships such as Pangea, we are presented with the opportunity to accelerate early detection and treatment in a timely manner. Not only will this positively benefit people in Cheshire and Merseyside and beyond, but it will also benefit national and global Will prepare a blueprint at the level.
Pangea Data’s product will help M-RIC improve screening rates and enroll more suitable patients for clinical trials and care. By using AI, it is hoped that more patients will be discovered that would otherwise have been missed if the search was limited to metadata or common natural language processing-based approaches.
According to the company, the product has been clinically proven to find 22 times more undiagnosed, miscoded and at-risk patients and match five times more appropriate patients to clinical trials and treatments. In addition, it also says that the device can halve the cost of treatment, save up to 90% in cost and time compared to manual and NLP-based methods, predict prognosis and optimize drugs, facilities and Can discover new relationships between adverse events.
Dr. Vibhor Gupta, Founder and Director of Pangea, said: ,Pangea’s product use in the context of mental health conditions for both patients and physicians is critical to supporting preventive health and precision medicine.
Earlier this year, Pangea Data was selected as one of the start-ups for the Digital Health Rewards Pitchfest 2023.
