Shubman Gill, a maverick batsman who created records in IPL 2023 and is known as the ‘Prince’ of Indian cricket, has said that the legacy of players like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli is immortal and cannot be defined.
Gill has enthralled cricket fans with his batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The 23-year-old recently scored three IPL centuries in four innings and helped his team set up a summit clash against Gujarat Titans. Chennai Super Kings in the final.
There are suggestions on social media that the young opener could carry forward the legacy of batting great Sachin Tendulkar and star cricketer Virat Kohli.
Gill told ANI that he respects the sentiments of the people but does not see it that way.
“Look when people look at it it’s great but I don’t really look at it that way because the generation that Sachin sir, Virat bhai and Rohit Sharma all these guys have inspired is beyond. If we look back at the 1983 World Cup, If we had not won the cup, there was a Sachin Tendulkar….If we had not won the 2011 World Cup, would I have been as motivated, maybe or maybe not. So, this kind of legacy, these kind of things are immortal. You Can’t really define his legacy,” Gill told ANI.
The batsman smashed a blistering century in Qualifier 2 playing for Gujarat Titans against mighty Mumbai Indians and smashed 129 runs in just 60 balls last week.
Shubman is not only making the right noise in the world of cricket but he is also creating a sensation in the entertainment industry. The 23-year-old actor has lent his voice for the Hindi and Punjabi versions of ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’.
Sharing his dubbing experience, especially in Punjabi, Shubman said, “It was an amazing experience. Also, this is the first official Punjabi release. Being able to do the entire film officially in Punjabi is even more exciting.” And it’s even more amazing for me to be able to be a part of it.”
Sony Pictures Entertainment India will release ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ on June 1 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali.
