Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler, Yash Dayal found himself in the middle of a controversy after he uploaded a picture on his Instagram handle regarding ‘Love Jihad’. The young cricketer, who hails from Allahabad, later deleted it after facing a lot of comments for spreading hatred. He also apologized for the post after some time.
Dayal apologized in his latest Instagram story: “Guys, sorry for the story, it was posted by mistake please don’t spread hate. Thank you. I have respect for each and every community in the society.”
Social media was flooded with comments that such a gesture against religion while playing with Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami and Noor Ahmed is not right. Many fans also urged Gujarat Titans to take action as he is under contract with the team. (Shubman Gill vs Virat Kohli vs Sachin Tendulkar: Is Shubman Gill the Next Batting Maestro India Needs? Playing for GT this year, Dayal featured in only five matches and managed to grab two wickets. The Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer was torn to pieces. A day later, reports emerged of his parents not eating after watching their son have the worst day ever on the pitch. Yash’s father Chandrapal Dayal told PTI-language, “It was a bad dream, my wife was heartbroken and stopped eating after the match.”
A few days later, GT captain Hardik Pandya revealed that after that night Yash had lost 7 to 8 kilos and had also fallen ill due to a viral infection. Yash made his return on 15 May in a game versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), taking 1 for 31. But in between, he went through a lot.
Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Robin Uthappa, who is on the commentary panel of Jio Cinema, revealed the never-heard story of how GT players helped Yash smile in the last over of 31 runs. Responding to a question from Zee News English on an online group call with reporters, Uthappa said that the GT players planned a dance and sing night for Yash on the same night they lost the game to KKR and that Made sure the fast bowler sleeps comfortably and with a smile on his face.
