Weather Update: IMD issues warning for Rajasthan, predicts heavy rains in many states; see full forecast

New Delhi: Cyclone Biparjoy has now weakened into a deep depression (remnant of cyclonic storm) over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat and is likely to move east-northeast and maintain the intensity of the depression till forenoon of June 18. There is a possibility. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as a deep depression over the three regions will cause heavy rain at isolated places from June 18 to June 19.

IMD predicts heavy rains in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh

According to an IMD press release, light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls very likely over southwest Rajasthan on June 18, while light to moderate rainfall at most places over southeast part of the state. There is a possibility. Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred on 18th June and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on 19th June.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places over northern region of Gujarat on June 18, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over West Madhya Pradesh on June 19.

Strong winds will cause damage in Gujarat, Rajasthan

IMD said that strong winds are likely to cause damage in the next 7 hours in South Rajasthan and adjoining North Gujarat. High-speed winds can cause a reduction in visibility, which can lead to difficulty in surface transport in heavy rain and damage to loose/unsecured structures.

Heavy rain likely in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala

Light to moderate rain accompanied with thunder and lightning is very likely over South India during the next five days. According to IMD’s daily weather bulletin, heavy rains would occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu on June 18 and June 19, while Kerala is likely to receive heavy rains from June 18 to June 21. Heavy rain is likely over South Interior Karnataka from June 19 to June 21. ,

Extremely heavy rain in Meghalaya, IMD forecast

The IMD has predicted that Meghalaya is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall from June 18 to June 19, while heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 5 days.

“Light rain with thunder and lightning very likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha during next 3 days,” the IMD said in its national weather bulletin.

According to IMD, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Yanam, Odisha, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during next 3 to 4 days. Heatwave to Severe Heatwave conditions to continue over isolated parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana and East Uttar Pradesh during next 3 days with gradual respite likely after 3 days.
