Cricket maestro Virat Kohli celebrated his 500th international match for India as he scored his 29th Test century against West Indies during the second Test in Trinidad. This historic hundred not only marked his 76th hundred in international cricket but also achieved a significant distinction as his first Test hundred away from home since 2019. However, what sets this version of Kohli apart is his transformation – he has evolved into a calmer, more patient player, as evident in his recent Test innings.
In the Dominica Test, Kohli displayed his newfound composure, taking 11 balls to open his account and adding 10 more in the second Test. Regardless of the pace at which he scores runs, this evolved “Kohli 3.0” has proved to be equally effective and formidable at the crease.
Fulfilling the wishes of his enthusiastic fans, Kohli smashed Shannon Gabriel for a boundary through the covers to register yet another milestone in his illustrious Test career. Tragically, his innings came to an end after 21 runs when he was run out. Kohli taps the ball down the leg side from Jomel Warrican and after a slight hesitation walks out for a quick single. Unfortunately, that momentary indecision cost Virat his wicket as Alzarri Joseph took a direct hit onto the stumps.
As Kohli walked off the field dejected, he expressed his disappointment by slamming his bat on the ground, which was completely justified. After all, it was only the third time in his entire Test career that Kohli was run out. The first instance happened in the same Test where he scored his maiden Test century in 2012. Then, in the day-night Test of the 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a scuffle with Ajinkya Rahane resulted in his second run-out.
In 22 Test matches from Adelaide in 2012 to Antigua currently, Kohli remained untouched by such dismissals. However, the unfortunate incident of his third run-out in this Test at Antigua brought an end to his impressive run.
Still wondering how many runs Virat Kohli would have scored if he didn’t get run out… :cricket_bat_and_ball : 200 years :sob : he looked relaxed and enjoying his batting pic.twitter.com/IixqNLU5Cg

Oh irony! Thefts have doubled since 2012. Next day I get run out trying to steal a single…
“That was probably the only way they could get Kohli out today.”

After an innings of unreal running between the wickets, it comes to a poetic end.

Ravindra Jadeja fell soon after completing his half-century, while Ishan Kishan squandered a good start. Ravichandran Ashwin, known for his skill against the West Indies, added 56 runs to the team’s total, while Warrican and Kemar Roach bagged three wickets each.
As the cricket world watches Kohli’s evolution on the field, his fans eagerly await more breathtaking performances from the veteran, who continues to rewrite the record books and enthrall cricket fans across the globe.
