Surat steals the crown: Indian building overtakes Pentagon to claim title of world’s largest office

A very old record is going to be broken soon. You must have heard of the ‘Pentagon’, the largest office building. According to a CNN report, a new office building in Surat, Gujarat is going to be even bigger. It will be the largest office building in the world and will be used as a center for the diamond trade.

The recently built Surat Diamond Bourse will be a place where more than 65,000 diamond experts like diamond cutters, polishers and traders can find everything they need under one roof. The company responsible for building the massive complex claims that it covers a vast area of ​​over 7.1 million square feet.

According to CNNThe 15-storey building is situated on a 35-acre land area. It consists of nine rectangular structures connected through a central spine.

The complex includes an entertainment zone and a parking lot spread over an area of ​​two million square feet. It is an organization which operates on a non-profit basis and is supported by SDB Diamond Bourse, a company registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. Its objective is to establish and promote Diamond Bourse at Surat, Gujarat.

During an interview with CNN, CEO Mahesh Gadhvi said that the newly constructed building complex will eliminate the need for many individuals to travel to Mumbai on a daily basis often by train for business purposes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the building in November this year. The construction of the building took a total of four years to complete.
