Superstar Pride charged with first-degree murder
Superstar Pryde’s real name is Caderius Pryde, who hails from Mississippi. The rapper has been charged with first-degree murder after publicly shooting a Panola County man on Wednesday last week.
As Action News 5 reports, the Panola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Highway 35 at approximately 12:30 a.m. on July 19. They found the lifeless body of 40-year-old Marcus Wheatley, who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds.
While investigating the incident, authorities linked the Painting Pictures rapper to the incident and identified him as the prime suspect in the case.
According to News Channel 3, the victim’s grandmother, Mary Ann Strong, witnessed the crime. Strong claimed that Wheatley was Pride’s barber. According to the witness, he saw the rapper enter Wheatley’s home and follow him with a gun. In the midst of the confrontation shots were fired and Wheatley was eventually killed.
Strong claimed that the rapper “fired about three times after he (Wheatley) fell over and he came over and pointed the gun at me and asked if I was going to tell it.” Unsure of his intentions, Strong noted that the rapper returned to the spot where the victim was lying and fired a final shot to his head before departing the scene in a red pickup truck. Authorities later found the truck abandoned in Pope, Mississippi.
