Superman Legacy, the much-awaited upcoming DC project has been making headlines recently with speculations regarding its lead actors. Directed by ace filmmaker James Gunn, the film is currently in its pre-production stage. As reported earlier, the filmmaker, who recently joined DC and is all set to revamp the DC Universe, is planning to retell Superman’s origin story with his ambitious film. The latest update has confirmed that Superman Legacy has finally found its lead cast.
David Korenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will play Clark Kent and Lois Lane in Superman Legacy
The latest reports from Deadline suggest that David Korenswet has been cast to play the legendary superheroes Superman and Clark Kent in the upcoming James Gunn-directed film. The actor, who is best known for his performance in Pearl, reportedly got the role after his successful audition and costume test, which was conducted in the presence of director James Gunn and DC co-CEO Peter Safran. Reports suggest that the final round of screen tests with contenders for the role of Superman lasted two days, with one full day for all three actors in full Superman costume.
Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her performance in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, was competing in the final round for the role of Lois Lane alongside Sex Education star Emma Mackey and Bridgerton fame Phoebe Diener. The actress successfully bagged the role after impressing James Gunn and his team with both her screen test and look test. The actress is at the top of the list of women to play Lois Lane after her successful audition, reports Deadline, being described as the best in the process.
The lead pair of Superman Legacy will skip Comic-Con
As per reports, DC Studios was keen to finalize its lead pair before the SAG-AFTRA strike, which is expected to take place at midnight on June 30. Even though Warner Bros. and DC have confirmed their participation in the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, which is scheduled to be held in July this year, there is a change of plans. It was previously expected that the studio would officially introduce the new Superman and Lois Lane at Comic-Con. But now, it has been confirmed that David Korenshwat and Rachel Brosnahan will be leaving the prestigious program as the strike guidelines state that no actor can promote any project during this period.
