At least one of our questions about the Sony Project Q handheld game-streaming device has been answered by a newly leaked video posted to Twitter by Zuby_Tech. reddit , Imgur, It featured a basic version of the Android OS running on the plastic-wrapped device, showing a simple menu system and a QR code. It’s very doubtful that the final version of the handheld menu will look like this, but it at least gives us an idea of what’s going on under the hood.
The person making the video quickly taps the menu, then starts rotating the handheld to show it up, back, and down. The low resolution makes it hard to tell much. You can make out what looks like a set of four buttons on the back of the tablet portion of the device at the top, centered holes (microphone, perhaps?) on the top and bottom edge of the tablet, and what looks like a speaker slot on the top edge.
in a separate Zuby_Tech TweetThere’s also a picture of the tablet with the screen removed, showing its rear frame and parts of it:
If you want a better look at Project Q, check out our coverage of its May announcement, when Sony said it would be an 8-inch tablet outfitted with DualSense controllers that wouldn’t stand on its own like the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck. Instead, it will exist as an accessory for the PS5 that will stream games from your console – making it more comparable to the Nintendo Wii U.
Sony gave very little information about Project Q in its PlayStation Showcase announcement. We do know that it uses a 1080p LCD display running at 60fps, and it uses Wi-Fi to connect to the PS5. However, running Android means it should (and hopefully will?) be capable of even more.
