Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath has committed the majority of his Rs 28,000 crore wealth to a cause close to his heart. An ardent admirer of Bill Gates and his principles of philanthropy, Kamath joined ‘The Giving Pledge’. Founded in 2010 by Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and Bill’s bestie billionaire Warren Buffett, the Foundation brings together the world’s wealthiest to pledge their wealth for the greater good. By 2023, there have been 241 mortgagee From 29 countries who have donated their money for various causes. The pledgers are from different domains. Apart from Kamath, some other Indian placers in the list include Wipro’s Azim Premji, Nandan Nilekani, Vinod Khosla, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. Even Elon Musk, a staunch critic of Bill Gates’ philanthropic style, is listed among the pledgers.
