Shravan Shivratri 2023: There are 12 Shivratri in a year and the one that falls in the month of Shravan is known as Sawan Shivratri. All these happen a day before Amavasya. Sawan Shivaratri, also known as Shravan Shivaratri or Masik Shivaratri, is an auspicious Hindu festival that occurs on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravan.
Every year, the holy festival dedicated to the devotion of Lord Shiva is celebrated with pomp and significance for the Hindus, especially the devotees of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. Sawan Shivratri, the most auspicious day of the month of Sawan, marks the marriage of two mighty forces of the universe, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. This year the month of Sawan started from 4th July and will continue till 31st August.

On July 16, Nishita Kaal Puja will be held from 12:07 pm to 12:48 pm. The time for Sawan Shivratri Paran is from 5:33 am to 3:54 pm. Ratri Chatur Prahar Puja on 16th July is from 3:00 am to 5:33 am.

Sawan Shivratri 2023: Significance
Devotees of Lord Shiva celebrate Sawan Shivratri with great enthusiasm. Hindus give great importance to this day. On every Monday during the month of Shravan, people observe a fast to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Unmarried women pray for a suitable life partner, while married women pray for a happy marriage.
Meanwhile, the Kanwariyas offer Gangajal to Lord Shiva which they collect from various holy places to seek blessings for a happy and fruitful life. It is possible to worship Lord Shiva with true devotion and dedication throughout the month of Sawan.
Sawan Shivratri 2023: Worship method
Devotees perform Jalabhishek on the Shiva Linga during their visit to the Lord Shiva temple.
Take bath early in the morning, worship the idol of Lord Shiva and keep chanting the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay’.
– Offer belpatra, doob, kusha, lotus, neelkamal, jawfool kaner and mustard flowers to God.
– Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is chanted 108 times in the name of Lord Shiva.
– Rudrabhishek is done by offering milk, curd, ghee, honey and Gangajal.
Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited.
– Shiva Chalisa and Shiva Aarti are recited to please Lord Shiva.
