Several popular third-party Reddit apps will shut down on Friday due to the platform’s upcoming paid API, and fans of the apps are sending them down with heartfelt posts and memes.
Not every app is shutting down around July 1st. Narwhal, a popular iOS app, will continue to operate, even with subscriptions. The developer of the Infinity for Reddit Android app says they plan to make it subscription-only as well. Accessibility-focused apps including RedReader, Dystopia and Luna are exempt from the fee from Reddit, so they will be available as well.
But for fans of apps like Apollo, RIF, Increase, and what’s more, there are only a few hours left before the apps are closed forever. At least we will have memes.
