new Jersey: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming “state visit” to the United States, a New Jersey-based restaurant has launched a special ‘Modi Ji Thali’ as a mark of respect for the Indian leader. Indian-origin restaurant owner Shripad Kulkarni said the thali has been specially curated on the demands of the Indian community living there.

The ‘Modi Ji Thali’, curated by Shripad Kulkarni, comprises dishes as diverse as the Indian landscape. Dishes on the thali range from khichdi, rasgulla, sarso da saag, and dum aloo to kashmiri, idli, dhokla, buttermilk, and papad.

Recently, the United Nations declared 2023 as the “International Year of Millets” following a recommendation by the Government of India in 2019. To celebrate this achievement and promote awareness about millets, the restaurant has indulged in a grand feast prepared using millets.
The restaurant owner also plans to launch another thali dedicated to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar soon. “We are planning to launch this thali soon. I am very positive that it is going to gain popularity. Once this goes well I am also planning to launch a Dr Jaishankar thali , because he too has rockstar appeal among the Indian American community.” Said.
PM Modi’s US visit
Prime Minister Modi will pay his first state visit to the US in June at the invitation of President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The US President and the First Lady will also host Modi for a state dinner on June 22.

Organizers have announced that Indian Americans are planning to welcome PM Modi on June 18 with a ‘Bharat Ekta Diwas’ march in 20 major cities across the US. Sumit Kalara, owner of ARDOR 2.1 restaurant told ANI earlier, “I have great respect for PM Modi-ji. He is the pride of our nation and we wanted to gift him something unique on his birthday.
