MS Dhoni is not one to express his emotions on the field but Monday night was a rare occasion when the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain let go after winning a record-equalling fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title. CSK defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets to lift the IPL 2023 title.
After the final, which got over on Monday night, family members and girlfriends of most of the CSK team members were seen on the ground at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Captain MS Dhoni, who chose to stay in the background during the trophy presentation, preferred to enjoy the moment with his family – wife Sakshi Dhoni and daughter Ziva Dhoni.
After emerging victorious in IPL 2023, Dhoni posed for a stunning picture with wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva. Sakshi posted an adorable picture on Instagram where all three are seen flashing their million-dollar smiles.
She simply captioned the post with a yellow heart emoji. Dhoni’s picture with his family garnered a lot of love. Singer Sophie Choudry commented, “Best.” “Adorable frame,” commented a netizen.
MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni’s post has garnered over 8.5 lakh likes on Instagram since it was posted on Tuesday night.
Dhoni first allowed retired Ambati Rayudu and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to accept the IPL 2023 trophy from BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah on his behalf. Dhoni then decided to fade into the background in the team picture and let the youngsters in the CSK team hold the fort.
In the final of IPL 2023 on Tuesday, CSK defeated GT by five wickets to win the title for the fifth time. CSK are now tied with Mumbai Indians in terms of tournament wins, with both the teams having won it five times each.
GT scored a challenging 214 in a rain-affected match on Sunday. CSK had barely started their chase when the rain came. While the first day of the final on Sunday was washed out due to rain, the second day was also affected and CSK chased down a revised target in the post-midnight innings. CSK were given a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs.
Openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad provided good momentum to the innings. Mohit Sharma almost spoiled the party for CSK with a spectacular comeback. However, Jadeja’s composure under pressure helped as he hit a six and a four in the last two balls to guide his side to victory.
