Tom Cruise-led Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, has opened to a great opening at the Indian box office despite releasing on a non-holiday Wednesday. Based on early estimates, the film is eyeing to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film on the first day of 2023. The competition with Fast X is very stiff. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 has collected around Rs 7.5 crore in top 3 national multiplexes. While PVR contributed Rs 4 crore, Inox managed Rs 2.20 crore. Cinepolis followed with Rs 1.30 crore. With a margin of 10 percent, it is the highest for any Hollywood film this year. The previous best for the year was Fast X which collected around Rs 6.95 crore nett across top 3 national multiplexes. As mentioned above, Fast X got more rural support while Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is getting more support from metros and big cities. Dubbed collections of M:I-7.1 are relatively low, indicating that it has not been able to create the same impact among Heartland viewers as the Fast series. Nonetheless, the Tom Cruise star vehicle is expected to do well after an extended first weekend. If it manages to hold well, it will become the highest grossing Hollywood film of 2023 in India.
