Angad Bisht is currently the No. 1 fighter in mixed martial arts in the flyweight division and is ranked No. 3 in bantamweight in Tapology’s most recent South Asian Pro rankings. Hailing from the hills, Angad was born in Uttarakhand and started MMA in 2018.
India’s biggest mixed-martial arts promotion, Matrix Fight Night, will return once again to the National Capital Region (NCR), with MFN 12 taking place on 1st July at the iconic Noida Indoor Stadium, Sector 21. Fans will have the chance to witness thrilling MMA action, intense fights and hardcore drama with two sensational title matches being announced for the night.
In the main event of MFN 12, India’s Angad Bisht will defend his flyweight title against Brazil’s Hugo Paiva. Bisht defeated Mohamed Gamal of Egypt for the flyweight title at MFN 10 in November 2022.
Speaking on the upcoming title match, Angad said, “I am ready to fight as always. I have trained well over the past few months and it has been my goal to retain the coveted MFN title since the match was announced I will give it my all once again, but it will be a good fight against Hugo Paiva of Brazil, who is also a tremendously skilled fighter. But I will have some tricks.”
When asked about his opponent, Hugo Paiva of Brazil said, “I am excited to come to India to win the MFN title. I have a strong opponent who has been unbeaten in his last few bouts. But I have played well.” My team and I are confident that we will make an impact. My aim is not only to win titles but also to entertain the fans.”
Meanwhile, India’s highest-ranked female MMA fighter Pooja Tomar will also defend her strawweight title against Russia’s Anastasia Feofanova.
