Veteran actor Gufi Paintal, best known for his role as Shakuni Mama in Mahabharat (1988), has passed away. The actor was 78 at the time of his death.
A source close to Filmfare has confirmed that Gufi Paintal passed away on Monday. The actor was reportedly in critical condition and was admitted to the hospital due to undisclosed health complications.
The formula told during his cremation will be revealed on Monday at 4 pm.
Gufi Paintal was known as a television actor and director. Apart from his memorable performance in Mahabharat, which made him a household name, he has also played important roles in films. His credits include films like Des Pardes, Dawa and Dillagi.
Gufi Paintal is survived by his son Harry Paintal.
