CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande has moved up to the fourth spot with 21 wickets in 15 matches, while Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is at the third spot. CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also moved up to 7th spot after claiming 2/18 against GT and now has 19 wickets in 15 matches.
Shubman Gill close to overtaking Faf du Plessis
GT’s man-in-form Shubman Gill missed out on a third consecutive century in the IPL, falling for a 38-ball 42 in Qualifier 1. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis continues to top the Orange Cap table.
Gill now has 722 runs in 15 matches at an average of 55.54 with the help of 2 centuries and 4 fifties. Du Plessis continued to hold the Orange Cap and scored 730 runs in 14 matches with 8 fifties. However, the GT opener now has at least one more match to claim the Orange Cap as he prepares to play in Qualifier 2, where he will play the winner of the Eliminator between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.

CSK openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad are ranked 5th and 6th in the Orange Cap table. Conway, who scored 40 against GT, has 625 runs from 15 matches – the same as RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal – with six fifties so far. While Gaikwad has scored 564 runs in 15 matches.
Both Conway and Gaikwad can add to their tally in the final match of IPL 2023 on Sunday.
