India vs West Indies 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma praises Virat Kohli after his 29th century in a drawn Test

port of Spain: After his team’s Test series win over West Indies, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma lauded Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli for their stellar performances with the bat in the match. Rain washed out play on the last day of the ongoing second Test between India and West Indies in Port of Spain on Tuesday and the match ended in a draw. With this, India has won the two-match Test series 1-0.

“You need guys like Ishaan (Kishan). We wanted fast runs, we encouraged him, he was not afraid. He was the first to raise his hand. In Test matches, you need guys who can stabilize the innings like Virat (Kohli) did, he played brilliantly. You need a mix of everything. We have depth, we have diversity. We are at the right place. It’s about getting the job done. I always believe in getting better as a team. I said that after the World Test Championship final as well,” Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation.

Rohit pointed out how unfortunate it was that the teams did not get a chance to play as the final decision was due to rain. “Every victory is different. Talking about ‘Player of the Match’ Mohammad Siraj, Rohit said he ‘took such a big step’ and led the attack well. “I don’t want anyone to lead the attack. I want everyone to lead when they have the ball in their hands. You want the entire pace battery to take responsibility.

Rohit said that his team has played consistent cricket. “That’s what we’re seeing. We want to focus on all three aspects of the game. We need to be a good fielding unit. Bowlers – how they react under pressure. What kind of mindset do batsmen go into challenging situations? I am waiting for this.

India had set West Indies a mammoth score of 365 to win the match and Windies lost two wickets in the final session of the fourth day in Port of Spain on Monday.
