Taking to Twitter, Chef Pillai told a story of how Dhoni once refused to eat Sea Food, a special dish that he had prepared for Team India in Thiruvananthapuram during the ODI series vs West Indies in 2018.
Last night when the whole world was celebrating the legend and heart of Indian cricket, I was still in awe of the time I had the privilege of serving him 5 years ago.

Sitting in his hotel room, Dhoni came to know that sea food was being served to the team that night. He called the chef to his room to tell him that he couldn’t eat it because he was allergic to seafood. The cook Suresh ran to the third floor room with disbelief on his face. He could not believe that Dhoni had called him to his room. “For a moment, I froze. Here is someone I idolize, watching on the TV screen – calling me to my room. I dropped everything and literally ran to his room on the third floor. Gone, didn’t even wait for the lift.” the chef.

Dhoni greeted him in the room and then asked what was in the dinner. Chef told him that seafood was prepared for the team. Dhoni then told him about his allergy and requested him for chicken curry with rice. Dhoni requested, “Can I have some chicken curry and rice? I would also like some spicy rasam as I have a sore throat.”
Chef Suresh quickly went to the kitchen and returned after 20 minutes with the food. “In about 20 minutes, I returned to room number 302 with a meal: Chettinad chicken, basmati rice, roasted pappadum, and a hearty serving of rasam with black pepper and garlic,” he recalled.
Dhoni loved everything he had on his plate. They loved the food so much that they made sure to thank Chef Suresh for it.
The chef wrote on Twitter, “The next morning he grabbed me on my way to the gym and said he loved dinner!
