HSBC is set to move its global headquarters from Canary Wharf to a smaller office in central London after the lease expires, the lender told its employees on Monday.
In a memo seen by the Financial Times the bank said its preferred option was to move to Panorama St Paul in the city. It said it is expected to shift to its new office at the end of 2026. The building was previously an office for telecoms group BT and was redeveloped by Orion Capital Managers.
HSBC said moving to a smaller, more central office, which The Times first reported, would help it meet its net zero commitments and allow for flexible working.
This comes as many companies seek to downsize to more central offices to reduce costs and adopt hybrid working.
