US Olympic medalist Torrie Bowie was found dead last month at her home in Orange County, Florida. Bowie’s friends and family claimed they had not seen or heard from the athlete for several days, after the Orange County Sheriff conducted a health checkup last month. The deputies found her in bed and ruled that she died of natural causes at that time.

An autopsy report revealed Monday that Tori Bowie died of complications from childbirth. USA Today reported that the Medical Examiner’s Office found that the late US Olympic athlete was in labor and about eight months pregnant at the time of her death.
Autopsy reports suggest that Tory may have suffered from complications of childbirth including respiratory distress or eclampsia. According to the Cleveland Clinic, eclampsia is a seizure that occurs for pregnant people with symptoms such as cramps, high blood pressure, blurred vision and more.

Torry Bowie’s untimely death at the age of just 32 shocked the area community and those close to him. At the time of her death, her management released a statement that read, “We have lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shone so brightly! We truly Deeply saddened and our prayers are with the family and friends.”
Some of the biggest stars in the sport also expressed their condolences. Fraser-Pryce tweeted, “My heart breaks for the family of Tory Bowie. A great competitor and a source of light. Your energy and smile will always be with me. Rest in peace.”
Bowie won three medals during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and also became the fastest woman in the world in 2017.
