Tiger Alert: Violence, abuse against women.
This behavior cannot be justified in any way. A CCTV footage from Delhi is going viral on social media, in which a 16-year-old girl can be seen being stabbed to death by a man in the middle of a street where people are passing by. As heartbreaking as the video is, the internet has been left awestruck by visuals of people walking after the incident as if nothing is happening.

According to reports, the brutal attack took place around 8.40 pm on Sunday in a narrow lane of Shahbad Dairy in North West Delhi. The 16-year-old girl was on her way to a birthday party of a friend’s son in C block of Shahabad Dairy when the “(20-year-old) man stopped her while exiting a public toilet where she was preparing for the party, said Dipendra Pathak, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Delhi.
The police report revealed that the man pushed her against a wall, pulled out a knife and inflicted at least 16 stab wounds on her chest, arms, shoulders and head, police said.

The incident lasted for more than one-and-a-half minutes and saw a few onlookers and dozens of people walking through the busy lane but no one stepped up. The outrage in India’s capital and across the country is not just about the murder but also about the people who walked by without making any effort to help her.

While such increasing incidents should make people more aware of their surroundings. It seems that India has seen crimes against women or any crime that they can simply see. People are numb to the news and visuals. And no amount of explanations or excuses can make up for it.

Reports have revealed that the girl lived with her parents and 10-year-old brother, 300 meters away from the crime scene. Her father was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “She recently passed her Class 10 board exams. She wanted to become a lawyer and had promised to clear her Class 12 exams.”
