After being in the Hindi film industry for 20 years, Shahid Kapoor is finally all set to make his debut as an action hero in Bloody Daddy directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film is set to have a premiere on Jio Cinemas on June 9 and marks the director’s collaboration with the actor for the first time. Ali insists that action films make the hero look good on screen. “It feels great when you come in with wet hair, flame thrower in hand. It is a good looking genre and who doesn’t want to look good on screen?” Ali smiled.
‘Who will make action films?’ Question Shahid Kapoor
Shahid insists that he wants to do many action films in the near future, but believes that there are not many directors for this genre in India. “Of course, I want to do action but who will do it? It just happened as soon as I found the right collaborator. I don’t want to force anything into the universe. Everything has a right time and place. After working for 20 years, you want to invest your time in something you can be proud of.
Ali Abbas Zafar says, ‘I want to make ambitious characters.’
Ali insists that making his actors look good on screen gives him joy. “I have grown up with Hindi and International cinema. From Scarface to Taxi Driver, Sholay and Deewar, all the films had very well presented protagonists. He is very ambitious on screen. Those scenes stay with you. The idea is not to be a blind homage to those films but to create an aspirational character on screen. Somehow, I love that cinema,” he keeps it short.
