Elliot Page has revealed that he contracted shingles while working with Leonardo DiCaprio on Inception. In his memoir ‘Pageboy’, the actor made several shocking revelations, including many from the sets of Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Page mentions how he was extremely stressed that he would be reuniting with Keira Knightley.
Elliot Page admits he felt out of place at Inception
Elliot Page, who came out as trans in 2020, writes about how working on Inception affected his mental health. In the book, he felt “out of place” on the set of Inception. Elliott admits, “In a cast full of cis men, I didn’t understand the role I found myself in.”
Page was a part of Christopher Nolan’s film alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy. Elliott explains that his fellow actors were “a joy to work with.” The actor didn’t come back then, and he admits that his mental health was affected while filming for the film.
Elliott Page has shingles while shooting Inception
In the 2010 film, Elliott played Ariadne, an architecture student who is hired by DiCaprio’s character Dom Cobb to create a landscape. Elliot confessed that he thought he would “reunite with Keira Knightley.” He revealed that he was under a lot of stress about being forced to play a female role and it took a toll on his health. He wrote, “When I was twenty-two years old filming Inception, shingles went off my spine.” Shingles is a painful rash that is usually caused by extreme stress and is a reactivation of the chickenpox virus. Elliot describes himself as transgender, non-binary, and queer. After that, the actor’s stress was rooted in the Hollywood projection and could not be who he wanted to be.
Elliott came out as trans in December 2020 and revealed who he really was in an open letter to his fans. The actor penned an open letter to her that read, “To all the trans people out there who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I Will do everything I do.” Can change this world for the better.
Elliott’s memoir Pageboy gives his fans a glimpse into his journey of self-discovery. Through the book, the actor spoke about the journey and how he fought societal expectations to reach a level of self-acceptance.
