The rising water level of the Yamuna river in the national capital is causing floods, affecting residences and roads and necessitating the implementation of emergency measures.
In a surprising report, the water level of Yamuna river reached 208.46 meters at 7 am today, mainly due to continuous release of water from Hathinikund Barrage in Haryana. This current water level is three meters above the danger mark.
On the request of the Arvind Kejriwal government, the central government was urged to intervene and stop the discharge of water from the barrage.
However, the central government responded by saying that there was a need to release additional water from the barrage due to sufficient rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, located to the north. In Himachal Pradesh, there has been heavy destruction due to monsoon, due to which the barrage has been filled.
