Singer Chinmayi Sripada, who accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual harassment, criticized Kamal Haasan for supporting the wrestlers’ protest and not speaking up on her Me Too allegations. Chinmayi wrote on Twitter, “How can one trust politicians who speak up for women’s safety while they ignore harassment right under their noses?”
Responding to Kamal Haasan’s tweet on the wrestling fraternity’s athletes protest, Simmayi wrote, “A singer in Tamil Nadu is being banned for taking the name of a molester in front of his eyes and not talking about it.” Is doing because the poet is respected. How can one trust politicians who speak up for women’s safety while they ignore harassment right under their noses? Just asking. Now that my timeline will blow up with abuses Yelling and yelling Imma gonna pass out.
Chinmayi commented on Kamal Haasan’s latest tweet
Soon after her comment, Chinmayi faced backlash from Kamal Haasan’s fans on Twitter. He addressed some of the tweets questioning him for attacking Kamal Haasan.
In another tweet, he said, “Needless to say there is a lot of anger. So many Kamal Haasan supporters ask me the same questions those opposing our Indian wrestlers have.” Powerful oppressors are exactly that. DMK – BJP – now MNM – all the same. Only the language is different.”
Chinmayi Sripada also mentioned that she is facing a formal work ban in the industry for naming a molester during the #MeToo movement.
