Afghanistan have managed to secure a rare ODI series win over hosts Bangladesh and now the two teams will face off 3-0 in the third and final ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday. After winning the rain-affected first ODI by 17 runs (DLS method), Afghanistan won the series by registering a massive 142-run victory in the second ODI.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the star of Afghanistan’s victory, scoring 145 off 125 balls with 8 sixes and 13 fours, with Ibrahim Zadran scoring 100 off 119 balls. Afghanistan’s opening pair put on 256 runs for the first wicket and the Afghans scored 331 runs for 8 wickets.
In reply, Bangladesh were bundled out for 189, with Fazalhaq Farooqui and Mujeeb Ur Rahman taking 3 each and Rashid Khan also taking 2/28. Afghanistan will now look to complete a rare ODI series whitewash against Bangladesh at their home ground after the ODI World Cup 2023 later this year.
