Anurag Kashyap revealed that Chiyaan Vikram was the first choice for Kennedy; says ‘he never replied’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently went to France to attend the Cannes Film Festival 2023. His film Kennedy starring Rahul Bhatt, Sunny Leone and Abhilash Thapliyal will premiere at Cannes 2023. Ahead of the premiere, Anurag in a new interview talks about his film. He revealed that Chiyaan Vikram was the first choice for his film Kennedy. The south actor was recently seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Anurag Kashyap revealed that Vikram was the first choice for Kennedy

Talking to Film Companion, Anurag even revealed that the film has been named Kennedy because of Vikram. He said that Vikram’s real name is Kennedy. The veteran filmmaker said, “I actually had a specific actor in mind when I wrote this film. That’s why the film is called Kennedy.” When he was asked the name of the actor, Anurag revealed, “Because that actor’s surname is Kennedy. The film was called The Kennedy Project. It is Chiyaan Vikram. Chiyaan Vikram’s real name is Kennedy. I reached out to him. He Never replied. So again, I reached out to Rahul. I said ‘read it’. His reaction, his reaction was enthusiastic. And not as an actor. And he said, ‘Yeh kaun kar raha hai?’ I said, ‘Will you?’ He told me?’ I said, ‘Yes, but you have to give it all’. And he was about to do some movies. He gave eight months of his life to Kennedy.”

Anurag’s Kennedy has been selected for midnight screening at Cannes Film Festival 2023. The film depicts an insomniac ex-cop who is long believed dead but is still in search of redemption.

Meanwhile, on 20 May, Anurag and Vikramaditya Motwane attended the premiere of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon at the Cannes Film Festival. Anurag took to Instagram and wrote, “And my Bruce Wayne came to @festivaldecannes for @motwayne #kennedy. While I wore this cool black suit by @manishmalhotra05 @manishmalhotraworld whatever Alfred @ishikamohanmotwane could put together for him Was, wore. We have ours with us.” Debutant producer @kabirahuja .. the man running the show @cinemakasam is missing because he was on the other side of the crosseat .. this is us for @martinscorsese_’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” .. uff what a movie and he does it over and over again How does..”
