Nearly 3,000 mobile phones missing in Noida, police launch special search operation

Noida: Around 3,000 mobile phones of Noida residents have gone “missing” over the past few years and police have launched a special drive to recover them, officials said on Wednesday. A senior official said complaints related to missing phones have been received in nine police stations of Noida in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district for the past few years.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Shakti Mohan Awasthi said, “At the moment, we have estimated that around 3,000 mobile phones are in the missing category in Noida.”

The official said that these are recent cases as well as old cases in which recovery could not be made. He said that a special drive has been launched to recover more and more phones.

Awasthi said that generally complaints of phone snatching or phone theft are dominated by incidents of “missing” or “misplacing” someone, but such phones can also be used by miscreants for criminal activities.

The IPS officer said, “In such a situation when people lose their phone, many times they do not take it seriously until they realize that they have lost their phone and then inform the police. ”

He said that the drive to recover the missing phones is yielding results and so far around 100 such phones have been recovered.

The official said, “People who have lost their mobile phones can contact their local police with their complaint and details or send an email to ‘adcp-polnoida.Gb@up.Gov.In’ And we will try to recover the lost equipment.” Said.
