Apple analyst Mark Gurman, at the conclusion of a long day covering Apple’s latest gadgets, noticed something odd: No photos of Apple employees, including CEO Tim Cook, wearing Apple’s new Vision Pro headset. I find it odd that I can’t find any pictures of Tim Cook or any other Apple executive using the Vision Pro.
It was obviously a well-intentioned move if it turns out to be genuine. Why is this though? Late Monday, lead Apple reporter Gurman took to Twitter. It is very different from the previous product launched by Apple. During the 2007 unveiling of the iPhone, Steve Jobs actually used the device he was demonstrating on stage.

This time, mainly female models were used to showcase the Vision Pro device. In several photographs, Cook is seen close to the new gadget, which rests on a white pole-like support. Why Cook and other Apple executives were not seen wearing the devices has been the subject of much speculation. The live product demo has been called risky by onlookers, so it may be that Apple wished to avoid any mishaps during the event. Apple blogger Zac Hall commented, “These guys needed it to look cool, and old blondes are unable to pull it off.”

As Gurman and others have pointed out, Mark Zuckerberg has been spotted on several occasions sporting one of Meta’s VR headsets, leading some to speculate that Apple is trying to avoid a similar fate. . These photos help support the stereotype of Zak as a remote tech tycoon more interested in virtual reality than the real world. Since Meta’s VR company is losing so much money, he’s getting memorialized with pictures of his glasses-on face.
