The US securities regulator requested a temporary freeze on assets linked to Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, a day after suing the company on more than a dozen allegations.
In a filing late Tuesday, the Securities and Exchange Commission requested a temporary asset freeze on several Binance-linked entities, as well as repatriation and other relief for customer assets on Binance’s US platform.
The SEC alleged on Monday that Binance misrepresented unregistered exchanges, broker-dealers and clearing agencies as well as trade controls and oversight on its US platform.
The SEC also sued San Francisco-based crypto exchange Coinbase on Tuesday, alleging that it violated US securities law by failing to register as a broker.
