Let’s take a look at the weather forecast for each match day from June 7 to June 11 as well as the reserve day on June 12.
Day 1 (June 7): According to accuweather.com, the weather for the first day, when the big match begins, will be “mostly sunny and pleasant”. It will be cloudy about 22%, but the chance of precipitation is only 1%. The temperature will reach a pleasant maximum of 21 degree Celsius.
Day 2 (June 8): The weather will remain the same as before, the temperature will also remain the same on the second day. Cloud cover will increase slightly to 25%, but the chance of precipitation will remain at 1%.
Day 3 (June 9): On day 3, the weather will be similar to day 2, except that the temperature will reach a maximum of 22°C. Cloud cover will remain at 25%, and the chance of precipitation will still be 1%.
Day 4 (June 10): A mix of sunshine and rain is expected on the fourth day of the season. Accuweather.com says, “Hot and humid with periods of clouds and sun; a few showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.” With the temperature rising to 26 °C, there will be around 2.5 mm of rain with a 65% chance of precipitation.
Day 5 (June 11): Although only 1.4 mm of rain is predicted on the fifth day, the weather will be “mostly cloudy and warm” with some rain in the afternoon. There is a 65% chance of precipitation, and an 85% chance of cloudiness.
Reserve Day (June 12): The forecast for Reserve Day predicts about 1.0 mm of rain, with a 54% cloudy day and a 57% chance of precipitation.
If the daily requirements for a Test match, consisting of 6 hours playing time and 90 overs, cannot be met due to weather conditions on any of the five days, a reserve day will be used. In such a situation, the additional time of Reserve Day will be used to meet these needs.
