Wearing the Indian jersey is not an easy task, especially if you are playing at a level where Indian fans and the whole world expect you to win big tournaments. Team India is currently in London for the final match of the World Test Championship against the mighty Australia. Captain Rohit Sharma was once asked a similar question during the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.

Rohit replied, “We know what the team has won and what it has not won. It is not useful to think about it again and again.”

India’s inability to win an ICC title in the last 10 years, despite numerous opportunities, has been discussed continuously. World Test Championship Final Against Australia, starting on Wednesday June 7 at The Oval.
Rohit had taken over from Virat Kohli as captain across formats in early 2022 following the Test series defeat in South Africa.
A day before the big final, Rohit was asked about the legacy he wants to leave as captain.
“Whether it was me or anyone else, even the earlier ones, his role was to take Indian cricket forward and win more and more games and win more and more championships. For me too, it is the same I want to win games, I want to win championships. That’s what you play for,” Rohit said during the pre-match press conference.

“And yeah, it would be nice to win some titles, some extraordinary series. But yeah, like I said, I really think we don’t want to put too much pressure on ourselves by thinking too much about those kinds of things.” ,
“As a captain, as I said, every captain wants to win championships, so I am no different. I also want to win championships. And that’s what sport is all about, winning championships. So for me, it would be good if I might win a championship or two, like when I decide to move on from this job.”
On another nippy and overcast morning in London, Rohit was among the four squad members who turned up for an optional practice. R Ashwin, Umesh and KS Bharath were the others who appeared in the morning session along with the net bowlers. (With PTI inputs)
