Ahead of the release, Adipurush director Om Raut shared new posters of Devdutt Nag as Lord Hanuman on his social media accounts. Along with the post, he wrote captions in different languages in which the film will release. However, things didn’t go according to plan for the director as he was trolled for poor translation of the captions in southern languages.
Raut wrote in Hindi, “Hum hain kesari, kya barbari”. Simultaneously, this line was translated and repeated in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Netizens reprimanded him for not checking the translated portion before posting, as the lines had no “meaning”. Twitter users questioned why Raut didn’t appoint someone who actually knew the language instead of posting “vague”. Some also pointed out that he added all the languages in his tweet but not Marathi.
One user wrote, “You don’t know Ramayan, we understand, but at least hire a Telugu person who can at least correct you.” The Telugu line doesn’t make any sense.” Another person commented, “Dear @omraut, it’s gibberish, not Telugu.” Another comment read, “Om Raut ji please check your Telugu words before tweeting anything.” Please correct.” Last but not the least, one person said, “With all due respect, please make sure this doesn’t happen regularly… don’t repeat mistakes in Telugu language.” Take a look.

As you don’t know telugu please double check it before posting. Can’t you hire a translator to write it for you or can’t you take someone else’s help to find out whether it is right or wrong.
Get it fixed asap.– Vamshi Krishna (@VamshiSG) June 2, 2023

We understand that you don’t know Telugu, but at least hire someone who knows Telugu. After all the main lead character is from Telugu.

The film is based on the epic Ramayana, and will see Prabhas as Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon as Goddess Sita, Saif Ali Khan as Lankapati Ravana, and Devdutt as Lord Hanuman. The film will hit the theaters on June 16, 2023.
