A year after beginning research into unexplained sightings, NASA convened its first public discussion on UFOs, formally known as “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAP).
The US space agency said the main goal of the public session was “final consultation” before the team publishes a report. Panel chairman David Spergel said the report was expected to be published by the end of July.
In his opening remarks on Wednesday, Spergel said, “If I had to sum up in one sentence what I think we’ve learned, it’s that we need high quality data.”
NASA later in the session released a video of an unidentified spherical orb UFO traveling through the Middle East.

Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, director of the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, said
It’s a typical example of something we see too often,” before adding that it lacked any arcane technical capability.
“It will take some time before we can reach any conclusions until we have more conclusive data about the linked items.”
Not a good result, whatever it may be.

More than 800 claims of UFO sightings have been analyzed using data collected by NASA over the decades, although only a small proportion of them are truly mysterious. Only 2% to 5% of recorded sightings involve signals that can be described as “anomalous”.
