Malayalam actor Harish Pengan passed away on Tuesday at the age of 49. The actor breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi. According to reports, he was admitted to the hospital earlier this month and was undergoing treatment for an acute liver ailment. Tovino Thomas, who shared screen space with Harish in Minal Murali, expressed his condolences.
Earlier this month, Harish Pangan was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, reportedly due to abdominal pain. However, after some medical tests, it was found that his condition was serious. Doctors suggested liver transplant and the actor’s sisters agreed to be donors. It was also said that along with the treatment, he also had to face financial difficulties.
Harish Pengan asked for financial help for treatment
Some industry peers also provided financial support to Pangan. His co-star and friend Nandan Unni wrote a long note on social media and helped him with the treatment. However, Pengan’s condition deteriorated and he passed away on the afternoon of 30 May.
Nandan Unni requested financial help for Harish’s treatment on his Facebook page. He wrote, “My compatriot and dear friend, Harish, has been fighting to get back to life at Amrita Hospital in Ernakulam for the past ten days. He was admitted to the hospital with minor abdominal pain and acute liver ailment. Dr. An immediate liver transplant is suggested. Harish’s twin sister, Sreeja, is ready to donate her liver. Now a huge amount is needed for the treatment.”
Harish Pangan last shared screen space with Tovino Thomas in the blockbuster film Minal Murali. The 2018 actor paid his tribute on Twitter and shared a picture of Harish Pangan and wrote, “Rest in peace.” Unni Mukundan also shared a picture of Harish Pengan and expressed condolences.
