Chamkila teaser out: Diljit Dosanjh transforms into singer Amar Singh Chamkila, debuts his no-turban look

Mumbai: The first teaser of Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra’s ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ was released by the makers on Tuesday (May 30). Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film brings to you the interesting story of famous Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. It is Diljit’s no-turban look that has created curiosity among cine-goers. The makers have opted for a direct OTT release for their film. ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ will stream on OTT platform Netflix in 2024.

Taking to Instagram, OTT platform Netflix released the teaser and wrote, “The name that has been etched in your heart and mind for years now comes in front of you. Watch the untold story of Punjab’s bestselling artist Amar Singh #Chamkeela Coming.” Coming soon only on Netflix!”

The teaser begins with Amar Singh Chamkila being warmly welcomed at an event. She is being projected as a shining star who rules the hearts of her fans. The scene then shifts to Diljit Dosanjh on stage, greeting the audience as a catchy song plays in the background. The biographical drama also stars Rahul Mittra in a key role.

The film presents the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar, Amar Singh Chamkila, who rose from the shadows of poverty in the 80s and rose to the heights of popularity due to the sheer power of his music, angering many along the way. Which ultimately led to his assassination at the young age of 27. The highest record-selling artist of her time, Chamkila is still regarded as one of the best live stage artistes Punjab has ever produced. Soon after the makers released the teaser, fans flooded the comments section with red hearts and fire emoticons.
