Mahendra Singh Dhoni is always in limelight when it comes to presentation ceremonies, be it the ODI World Cup or the T20 World Cup or the ICC Champions Trophy or the Indian Premier League. On Monday night, Dhoni added a fifth crown for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), leading them to an IPL 2023 final win over Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Dhoni immediately handed over the IPL trophy to teammates Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu, who were playing their last IPL match.

All-rounder and former captain Ravindra Jadeja was the main architect of CSK’s victory. With CSK needing 10 runs to win off the last two balls in the rain-shortened final, Jadeja hit bowler Mohit Sharma for a six and a four off the last two deliveries. As the CSK team took to the field to celebrate their title win, one man remained calm in the dug out – MS Dhoni.

However, in a rare moment filled with emotion, Dhoni hugged Jadeja as he came into the dug-out and lifted him with a big smile on his face. Dhoni’s bear hug ended a much-anticipated tussle between Jadeja and the current CSK skipper, which began with the IPL 2022 season.

Jadeja was removed from the captaincy of CSK midway through the IPL 2022 season and Dhoni has since returned to lead the team. The all-rounder missed the rest of the IPL 2022 season with an injury and even unfollowed the social media accounts of the CSK team. There were speculations that CSK might release Jadeja ahead of the IPL 2023 season but Dhoni insisted on retaining the all-rounder.

There was also speculation of a rift between Jadeja and Dhoni during this season as the two were seen arguing after their final league match of the season against Delhi Capitals. Dhoni and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were seen having a heated argument over some issue after CSK sealed their place in the playoffs. No one could understand what was the reason for this exchange.

You rarely see Dhoni in such animated interactions with teammates or opposition players on the field. It can be seen in the video that Jadeja goes to Dhoni for anything related to the game. Dhoni first calms Jadeja by putting his hand on his shoulder and starts explaining one thing. Even before Dhoni gets a little animated, Jadeja is seen reacting to his words.

Jadeja and his wife Rivaba also posted a cryptic message on the social media platform after the match. However, Dhoni’s big hug and his gesture of handing over the IPL 2023 trophy to Jadeja seems to have put an end to the tussle as well as the debate around them.
