After a day’s delay due to heavy rain, the spectators and teams were eager to see the final match in more favorable weather conditions. However, nature was determined to disrupt the game once again. The first half proceeded without a hitch, but as soon as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) started chasing the target, it started raining. As the match was halted, Gujarat Titans (GT) scored a staggering 214/4 in their allotted 20 overs, while CSK stood at 4/0 after 0.3 overs.
Incessant rain continued to delay the game, and if it had ended now, CSK would have lost, and GT would have been crowned champions due to their superior position in the group table. However, it may not matter if the rain continues for a while before CSK gets reduced. Losing a few overs will shorten the game, which will work in their favour. According to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, if the match were to be reduced to five overs, CSK would need 43 runs to win.

The DLS Par score provided indicates that CSK will have the upper hand in this situation. This puts him in the driver’s seat, which can prove to be beneficial for MS Dhoni and his team. The scores at the end of the fifth over are 43 for no loss, 48 if they lose one, 55 if they lose two, 65 if they lose three, 77 if they lose four, and 95. If they lose five wickets.
GT knows that a short game will be unfavorable for them. Any scenario involving the DLS method favors the chasing team, and CSK have the advantage. As a result, GT will expect the match to go no further and at least 15 overs can be played to retain their advantage. Anything less than 10 overs would be a significant advantage for CSK, which GT would want to avoid. In such a situation, if the rain continues in Ahmedabad, then Hardik Pandya will not mind. GT will be crowned on the basis of their better position in the league table than CSK.
