Relief from the scorching heat is on the cards as the Meteorological Department predicted rain and thunderstorm for northwest India. The India Meteorological Department in its weather bulletin said that scattered rain and thundershowers are very likely over northwest India till May 31 and may gradually reduce thereafter. “A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan at lower tropospheric levels. An east-west trough extends from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan to central parts of southern Uttar Pradesh in lower tropospheric levels. North-south trough The cyclonic circulation moves from south Chhattisgarh to interior Tamil Nadu in the lower tropospheric levels, the IMD said.

Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South, Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours in the northern boundary of Southwest Monsoon, the Meteorological Department said.
North West India Weather Forecast
The Meteorological Department said that light/moderate rain with thunder, lightning and at times gusty wind/storm (speed reaching 40-50 to 60 kmph) is very likely over Northwest India till May 31. It said peak activity would be recorded on May 30 and would gradually decrease from June 1. “Hailstorm very likely at isolated places over North Rajasthan, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh on 29th & 30th and over Uttarakhand during 29th-31st May, Punjab on 29th May. 60-70 degrees Celsius at isolated places Squally/strong wind with a speed of 15 kmph is likely.” May 29 in Haryana, Delhi; Rajasthan on 29th and 30th; Uttarakhand on 31 May. Heavy rainfall at isolated places over North Rajasthan on 29th May; Heavy rainfall very likely over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on May 31,” reads the weather bulletin.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light/moderate rain with thunder/lightning/gusty winds over Madhya Pradesh during next 2 days and decrease thereafter.

The Meteorological Department said that scattered rain is likely over Kerala, Lakshadweep and South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during the next 5 days. “Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Kerala on May 29 and 30; South Interior Karnataka on May 30 and 31 and Coastal Karnataka on May 31,” it said.
The department said that heat wave conditions are not expected in any part of the country during the next 5 days.
