For the first time in the 16-year history of the T20 league, the Indian Premier League (IPL) title will be decided on the ‘Reserve Day’. The IPL 2023 final between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings has been pushed to a ‘reserve day’ on Monday after incessant rain made no play possible at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that fans will be able to use Sunday tickets to watch the match on Monday, provided they have a physical ticket.
“The IPL final of the 2023 edition involving Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans has been rescheduled to a reserve day, Monday, May 29, due to incessant rain in Ahmedabad. Fans who had tickets for the Tata IPL final on May 28 will now be able to enter the stadium with their existing tickets on May 29.

However, what if rain intervenes once again in the IPL 2023 final on the Reserve Day. If it rains on Monday evening as well, the latest match for the full 20-over competition could start at 9.35 pm IST. After that the overs will start to be cut for both the sides in the competition.
Latest that IPL 2023 final might start at 12.05 AM IST on Monday night for minimum 5 overs contest. If a 5-over match is not possible on Monday, then the winner between GT and CSK will be decided on the basis of ‘Super Over’. A ‘Super Over’ usually takes place to decide a contest which was then tied in the IPL.
In the scenario that even a ‘Super Over’ is not possible on Monday evening, Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans will be crowned IPL 2023 champions as they finished the league stages at No. 1 spot in the IPL 2023 points table after the league stages with 20 points. Number. MS Dhoni’s CSK finished second with 17 points.
