Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni is all set to play his 250th and possibly his last match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the IPL 2023 final between Gujarat Titans (GT) and CSK on Monday will be played on the reserve day. Fans on social media have already chronicled his last international appearance – the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand – which ended on a ‘reserve day’ with Dhoni being dropped from Team India despite a half-century.

However, the former Indian captain has continued to play for CSK since then – leading the team to the IPL 2021 title. CSK players like Devon Conway and Tushar Deshpande have started posting tributes to their skipper Dhoni on Sunday, which was possibly the last day of his CSK skipper’s IPL career, but rain rendered the final verdict.
In 249 matches so far in the IPL, Dhoni has scored 5,082 runs at an average of 39.09 with 24 fifties and a strike-rate of 135.96 with 84 not out. Prasanna Agoram, the Indian analyst who famously worked with the South African national team as well as the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals team, dropped a big hint in this regard.

Before Dhoni, CSK star batsman Ambati Rayudu announced that the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans will be his last match in the cash-rich league on Sunday. During his illustrious career, Rayudu played for two champion teams – Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings. They will be eyeing their sixth IPL title against a Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat team tonight.
