Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated the new Parliament building to the nation in a historic event amid a boycott by around 20 opposition parties, including the Congress. Prime Minister Modi also installed the sacred scepter Sengol near the speaker’s chair in the Lok Sabha. The new Parliament House has received praise from politicians and celebrities from all around. Actor Shah Rukh Khan also praised the grandeur of the new parliament. However, his praise did not go down well with the Congress.
Congress targets Shahrukh Khan
Congress leader and party’s social media president from Uttar Pradesh, Pankhuri Pathak slammed ‘King Khan’, accusing him of letting down those who stood by the actor in his difficult times. “You have let down so many people who stood by you when your son was unfairly targeted and jailed, when there was a boycott call against your films, when you were targeted because of your religion . It clearly says that you deserved what they did. You. Sorry but you are not a king. No more,” he said in response to a video shared by Shah Rukh Khan praising the new Parliament.
Shahrukh Khan praised the new parliament
Praising the new Parliament, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan termed it a wonderful new home for those who uphold the Constitution, represent every citizen of India and protect diversity. “A new Parliament building for a new India but with the age-old dream of India’s pride. Jai Hind! #MyParliamentMyPride,” he said.
In the video shared by him, Shah Rukh Khan is telling about the importance of the new Parliament House. “It is said that Parliament is to the nation what the soul is to the body. It is my heartfelt prayer that the soul of our democracy may remain strong in its new home and promote liberty, fraternity and equality for ages to come. ” said in the video.
Shah Rukh further said that it is expected that this new ‘house of democracy’ will usher in a new era which is famous for its scientific temper and empathy for all.

The new Parliament House has a higher seating capacity. The new building has space for 888 members of the Lok Sabha and 384 members of the Rajya Sabha. It also has mural paintings depicting the grand history and culture of India.
