Weather Alert: Delhi-NCR with rain, strong winds, thunderstorm; flights delayed

Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and gusty winds lashed Delhi and neighboring areas on Saturday morning, bringing respite from the heat wave in north India. The Meteorological Department also said that it will rain in Delhi for the next two to three days and the heat wave will not last till May 30. The IMD on Friday said that rainfall in India in June will be at ‘below normal’ level and in states like Central. The temperature will be above normal in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha and North India.

Meanwhile, the Delhi airport has announced that several flights have been affected due to inclement weather.

“In June, rainfall across India will be less than 92 per cent, which is below normal. Temperatures are likely to be above normal over states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Orissa and North India, with temperatures likely to be above normal The completion is 70-80 per cent,” news agency ANI quoted RK Jenamani as saying.

The IMD had earlier said that monsoon is expected to set in over Kerala on June 4 and it is likely to be normal this year.
