Dr. Mukesh Mehra suggests the following tips for people to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke:
1. People who are living and working outside in the sun need to be extra careful. Protect your head from the sun and if possible use a small towel soaked in water or try putting some cloth under the hat.
2. It is very important to stay hydrated in this current temperature and drink as much water as needed. Carry water or some type of fluid with you at all times. If you use any old medicine, you should drink more water. If possible avoid places where the sun is shining brightly. Using rehydration solutions like ORS and others.
3. It is important to make sure elderly people have access to water and parents or caregivers should also pay extra attention to young children to make sure they are hydrated.
