Legendary singer Tina Turner died on Wednesday at the age of 83. The ‘Queen of Rock and Roll’ breathed her last after a prolonged illness. According to her representatives, the pop icon died peacefully at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.
Tina’s passing was announced on her official Instagram page. The post read, “With his music and immense passion for life, he has enthralled millions of fans across the globe and inspired the stars of tomorrow.” He added, “Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who has left us her greatest work: her music.”
Tina, who gave us some pop classics like The Best and What’s Love Got To Do With It, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016. He faced several health problems in recent years and even underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.

Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939. The pioneering rock and roll star began her career in the 1950s and rose to fame in the 1960s alongside her husband, Ike. The duo performed some classic songs like Mountain High, Proud Mary and River Deep.
After living in an abusive marriage, Tina decides to divorce Ike in 1978. Soon, he earned huge success as a solo artist in the 1980s. During the 1980s, he charmed audiences with some soul classics including Better Be Good to Me, Private Dancer, Typical Male, and The Best.
In 1988, one of his shows in Rio de Janeiro attracted nearly 2 million people, one of the largest concert audiences for any solo artist.
The pop star has won eight Grammys and starred in a few films in his decades-long career as a musician. She is also known for increasing the participation of black women in the world of rock and roll.
Tina Turner is survived by her second husband, German music executive Erwin Bach. The couple dated for 27 years before tying the knot in 2013. Tina and Irwin lived in Switzerland, the former having renounced his American citizenship to become a Swiss citizen.
