Gonda (UP): BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by seven women wrestlers, on Tuesday sought to compare wrestler Vinesh Phogat with Manthara, a character from the Hindu epic Ramayana.
The Ramayana states that Manthara, who was a maidservant of Queen Kaikeyi, convinced her that the throne of Ayodhya belonged to her son Bharata and that her stepson and prince Rama should be banished from the kingdom.
Vinesh Phogat is playing the role of Manthara for me, similar to the role played by Manthara-Kaikeyi in Treta Yuga,” Singh said at a public meeting here.
He said that earlier thousands of wrestlers were protesting against them, but now only three husband-wife pairs are left. There is no seventh, he said. “The day the results come, I will thank Manthara as well.”
The Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Singh after women wrestlers made allegations of sexual harassment and is probing the matter.
Singh said, “The wrestlers who were protesting till date have not been able to explain what, when, where and how happened to them.”
Singh said he was facing problems because of these allegations of sexual harassment, as did former US President Donald Trump, who was accused of misconduct by several women.
He said, “I am saying that this conspiracy is not of today. It has been going on for many days, but something good will come out of it. God only knows how I am surviving.”
He said, “It is a case of good touch-bad touch. False allegations have been leveled against me. God has made me a medium to fight against these allegations. This is because God himself never appears. make.”
Singh had said on Sunday that he was ready to undergo the narco test provided wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia also undergo it.
Prominent wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik have been protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since April 23, alleging sexual harassment by the Kaiserganj MP.
The Sports Ministry has canceled all activities of the Wrestling Federation until the investigation into the allegations of the wrestlers is completed.
